What is Aqua-Ban?

Aqua-Ban is a diuretic (water pill). It works by increasing urination.

Aqua-Ban is used to treat bloating, swelling, feelings of fullness, and other signs of water weight gain related to menstrual symptoms.

Aqua-Ban may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Before taking this medicine

You should not use Aqua-Ban if you are allergic to it, or if you are unable to urinate.

It is not known whether Aqua-Ban will harm an unborn baby. Do not use this medicine without a doctor's advice if you are pregnant.

It is not known whether pamabrom passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medicine without a doctor's advice if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Do not give this medicine to a child or teenager without medical advice.

How should I take Aqua-Ban?

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.

For best results, begin taking Aqua-Ban 5 or 6 days before you expect your menstrual period to start. Keep using the medicine until you get relief from symptoms, or until your period ends.

Do not take more than 4 doses of pamabrom in a 24-hour period.

Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water each day while you are taking Aqua-Ban.

Aqua-Ban will cause you to urinate more than usual. This is a sign that the medicine is working.

Stop taking Aqua-Ban and call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 10 days of treatment.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not remove a pill from the blister pack until you are ready to take the medicine.

What happens if I miss a dose?

Since Aqua-Ban is used when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are on a schedule, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up the missed dose.

What should I avoid while taking Aqua-Ban?

Follow your doctor's instructions about any restrictions on food, beverages, or activity.

Other drugs may interact with pamabrom, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.
